MASTER PLANS

We're moving into a new era for Year 7-13 education in Marlborough.

We are excited to share with you the master plans for the co-located Marlborough Boys’ and Marlborough Girls’ Colleges campus and for Bohally Intermediate School’s new campus at College Park.
Te Tātoru o Wairau is a transformational investment in the future of intermediate and secondary education in Marlborough, and is one of the largest and most complex capital works projects ever undertaken by the Ministry of Education.
The name Te Tātoru o Wairau was chosen for the project by Te Tauihu iwi, Ngāti Rārua, Rangitāne o Wairau, Ngāti Toa Rangatira and Ngāti Kuia, and represents a three-plait rope that symbolises the three schools coming together as one construction and
educational transformation project. We are grateful for the valuable guidance from iwi, which has made this project truly reflective of iwi and community aspirations for future ākonga (students).
The master plans represent an enormous amount of collective knowledge, energy, expertise and vision from our boards, staff, iwi, the Ministry and members of the project’s construction consortium, Te Tumu.
Co-location of the colleges enables them both to take advantage of shared and separate learning spaces, and for Bohally to develop new learning spaces, enhancing the delivery of intermediate and secondary education in Marlborough. Together we
have created the blueprint for future Year 7 to 13 teaching and learning across our three schools, opening new opportunities to what students learn and how they learn it.
Paramount to the success of the project’s design has been the requirement to mitigate any impacts on teaching and learning at the schools during construction. By taking a staged approach to the construction and by identifying learning opportunities for
students along the way, we are confident that students’ experiences at the schools will be enhanced as the new learning spaces are created.
With the master plans in place, the project is now moving on to conceptual and detailed design stages, with the first stages of the build – an artifical turf and the new Bohally campus – expected to begin this year.
We look forward to sharing conceptual designs for the schools later this year.
