This year, the project team finished the briefing phase for Te Tātoru o Wairau. That means we’ve now completed design briefs which set out the scope of the project and balance the requirements of our partners and stakeholders – from the kura to the Ministry of Education and iwi. We’ve also completed site investigations, so we have a good understanding of the physical constraints of the site as we move through the design process.
The next step is master planning, which gets underway in January. This is when we explore and confirm building layouts and design, cultural features, and locations of the kura on each of the sites. We also look at ways to minimise disruption to teaching and learning during construction. The final step is to establish the construction programme and timeframe.
